The club activities were founded in 2014, starting with 18 first-generation members. Their debut performance was at the Gion Festival Museum Concert held at the Kyoto Cultural Museum. The following year, at the 51st Kyoto Prefecture Wind Instrument Competition, they won the silver prize in the high school small ensemble category. In 2015, six second-generation members joined, and the club won the gold prize at the competition. In 2016, seven third-generation members joined, bringing the total number to 31. Once again, they won the gold prize, which qualified them to represent Kyoto Prefecture at the Kansai Wind Instrument Competition, where they secured their first-ever gold prize at the regional level. Starting in 2017, the club expanded its challenges to the large ensemble category. In 2019, they participated in the Kyoto Prefecture Marching Contest for the first time, winning the gold prize and earning a ticket to the Kansai competition as representatives of Kyoto Prefecture. Since then, they have consistently won gold prizes and represented Kyoto Prefecture at both the Wind Instrument Competition and the Marching Contest, practicing diligently with the goal of achieving a gold prize at the Kansai competition. Our concert band, BlueLilies, is made up of 79 members: 30 first-year students, 23 second-year students, and 26 third-year students. With our motto, “Vīve hodie – Live Today,” we dedicate ourselves to daily practice, cherishing the opportunity to bring smiles and our heartfelt gratitude to all who listen to our music. Our goal is to qualify for the national finals of both the All Japan Band Competition and the All Japan Marching Contest. To achieve this, we aim to become a regular contender in the Kansai regional competitions and continuously work to raise our level of performance. This is by no means an easy goal, but each member strives to improve, challenging one another and growing together as a team. In addition, we actively participate in local events and place great importance on community engagement. We are regularly invited to perform at kindergartens, nursery schools, elementary and junior high schools, welfare facilities, and various community events, using our music to connect with the people in our region. For more details about our activities, please check out our official Instagram account. To truly enjoy music as part of a school club, a disciplined lifestyle is essential. Greeting others respectfully, following school rules, and valuing good morals are the foundation of a strong and positive musical environment. What matters most in music is the spirit of courtesy, consideration, and gratitude. Each member takes pride in being part of BlueLilies, acts with a sense of responsibility, and strives every day to become a band that is loved and supported by everyone.
